Chiran Peace Museum
This museum conveys the tragedy of war and the preciousness of life and peace through the personal effects, farewell letters, and other items from tokko pilots in the special attack forces, who were also known as kamikaze pilots.
Located in Chiran, Minamikyushu City, this museum is built on the site of a former Imperial Japanese Army special attack forces base. In the final stages of the Pacific War, the Imperial Japanese Army special attack forces unit members (kamikaze pilots) carried out ramming attacks in aircraft loaded with explosives. Through valuable materials such as the pilots’ personal effects, farewell letters, letters, and photographs, the museum conveys historical truth to the present day. This is a place where you can connect with the thoughts of each young person whose life was taken by war, engrave deep in your heart the preciousness of life and the tragedy of war, and pass on earnest wishes for peace to the next generation.
